The 100 Machine & The Secondary Drains
What Is An 100 Machine?
It is called 100 machine because this is the name that Spartan gave to this particular equipment, as well as, all the other machines made by this same company has a particular number.
The number does not mean the power or strength of the equipment; it is only to merely name the equipment.
This machine is one of the smallest drain equipment designed by Spartan, it weights around 55pds when fully loaded with cable.
100-Machine and Small Drains:
This lightweight
100 machine
was designed to unplug drain pipes that measures anywhere from 1 ¼ to 4” in diameter, however, I have used this equipment for 5 years and, honestly, it will work most effectively in secondary lines that measures from 1 ¼ to 2” in diameter.
The ideal cable for this particular machine should measure 5/16”, 13/32” or ½” in diameter.
Removing Blockages:
The particular machine can easily remove solid debris such as: hair, soap, lint or grease, however, the drain line has solid sludge buildup, the cable alone might not unplug the line, you might need a more advanced machine to get the job done and, the best equipment for it would be a scour jet machine.
Machine Features:
Here are some of the common features that the 100 machine offers:
• Lightweight power for 1-1/4" - 4" lines up to 100 feet.
• Allows 90º adjustment in work angle.
• 1/2 HP gear-reduced quiet motor with watertight switch.
• Air-operated foot switch.
• 25 feet power cord with ground fault interrupter.
• Optional Roll Aid wheel kit available.
100-Machine In Bigger Pipes:
1 – The 100 machine does not have enough power to remove solid blockages in those bigger pipes.
2 – The blockages existent in the smaller pipes are not the same encountered in the bigger pipes, for example, in smaller pipes, the common blockages are hair and jelly sludge, in the bigger pipes, the common blockages are: tree roots, tampons, physical damages.
3 – The size of pipes plays a big factor when deciding what kind of machine to use in it.
4 – Using a smaller cable in a bigger piper will increase the risk of having the cable to rap around itself, to kink or to get stuck or even to break in inside the pipe.
5 – The 100-machine was not designed to cut and remove solid blockages such as roots from lines.
6 – Even if you unplug a bigger line with a secondary line machine, the problem will soon re-occur, which means that, you wasted time and money the first time.
