Laundry Drain Piping!

Laundry drain
line is a simple and straight forward plumbing system and it is easy to understand how it works.Usually, a
laundry drain
consist of a standing pipe measuring about 3 to 4 feet in height connected to a p-trap and then into a vent pipe.
According to the plumbing code, each drain line is considered to be independent from each other; however, a plumbing drain system has pipes that are interconnected among themselves in a variety of angles and directions.
In the case of a laundry line, most of the time the line does not exist by itself; a laundry line is connected to a kitchen line by a straight TEE, WYE or a Santee, then, this last one goes under the concrete floor where in some point it ties with a floor drain before connecting to the main drain.
The above system description is considered to be one of the most common types of installation that I have found in most homes during the past five years working as a plumber. But don’t believe that this is always the case; in fact, I have seen all kinds of laundry drain lines installations.
The laundry plumbing system:
First of all, if you know how the system works, you will effectively diagnose potential problems when they occur in the drain.
According to my own experience, most customers when calling a professional drain company will provide wrong information about their drain problems. Don’t worry! That is normal. Not everyone understands about plumbing drains
Let’s say for example that, you have a clogged drain between your kitchen and floor drain and, whenever you drain your washing machine, the water backs up in the floor drain.
So, what kind of drain problem are you having?
If you run water in the kitchen sink and backs up in the floor drain or if you drain your washer and backs up in the drain, the problem is not with your laundry line, the problem is with main secondary pipe, meaning that the kitchen line is plugged up.
However, use caution when determining which drain is really backing up, because there will be time that a floor drain backed up will not mean that the kitchen line is clogged but, that could possibly be your main sewer line.
The only time that your laundry drain is clogged is when you attempt to drain the washer and the water backs up through the standing pipe itself.
What is the main cause for a laundry drain to plug?
The main reason is soup build up and lint.
