My husband does not want to installl the claw tub in our 1896 home.

by Conie Mahl

We have been remodeling our 1896 home for the past 8 years. There was a claw tub in the attic that my kids did not use so we replaced it with a shower. However, I do believe the claw tub was originally in the main bath and I would like to incorporate it back for a vintage feel. We need to replace the exisiting tub anyway. We are putting a spa like double shower with seat in its place. It will definitely be used more frequently than the claw tub I want to place by the window but at least we still have a tub. As my daughter says, where will I bath the grandkids.

My husband is concerned about the placement of the drain for the claw tub since the new shower will utilize the old tub drain. Why can't a joint of somekind be merged to the main drain. The toilet is within a few feet and so is the sind. Please help as I do not want him to continue without at least considering this. He is not a contractor or plumber but has remodel 2 or our other bathrooms.

Thank you,
Connie Mahl
