Replacing a Basement Shower Stall
by: Joe

Hi Jim,

I glad that you were able to successfully accomplish the task.

I am also glad that your wife appreciated the result of it.

Performing any plumbing job is not something easy to do it and, for the fact that you were able to do it, I commend you.

Thank you very much for keeping me updated and I am glad that I was able to assist you in some way, remember that, this was the whole purpose of this website creation, to help people like.

You were the first person to come back and share your experience with me, so, once again, thank you very much.

Now I know that all the time invested for the creation of diy-plumbing-and-drain.com was not in vain.

Thank you very much! I hope you keep coming back and, please, refer my website to those who you know and that need help with their plumbing tasks.

Sincerely,

Joe

I did it!
by: Jim

Hi Joe,

I did it! I removed the ugly shower stall and installed a brand new tub and I put beautiful ceramic tiles all around, and it looks very nice and very professional!

As I expected, the hardest part was attaching the drain. I must have placed the tub over where the drain was supposed to be about five or six times until I finally got it right.

I am very happy with the results, even though my knees and back have been complaining very strenuously! The bonus? My wife thinks I am not so useless after all!

Thanks for the help.

Jim

Reply on Replacing a Basement Shower Stall
by: Joe

Dear Jim,

Thank you very much for your comments about my site, when I first start building it, my goal was to help people like yourself and, I am glad if I was able to help you in that matter.

Now, let's talk about your project, I am really glad that you sent me an email and, I hope that this reply is not too late.

In regarding the sewer smell, you made a good point, it is likely that you have a p-trap under ground, otherwise, the bad odor would be all over your basement and throughout the house.

However, if you aren't sure whether this is the case or not, I would recommend to expose the plumbing before hand, this will give 100% accuracy before moving forward.

Also, when plumbing anything, never assume anything, otherwise, you might find yourself re-doing the whole thing later on.

Once again, never assume anything and, please, do not install another p-trap, if you do that and, in the future, this shower gets clog, it will impossible to unclog it. Why? Well, going through one p-trap is already very difficult, now, imagine going through double p-trap, so, please, don't do that.

If you have anymore questions about it, please, drop me a line.

Thank very much for your input,

Sincerely,

Joe
