Thrift Drain Cleaner Solution

Facts About Thrift Drain Cleaner:

1 – There two types of thrift drain cleaner, the solid and the liquid version, the solid one is the non-acid and the liquid is the acid based chemical. This article will be dedicated to the first version.

2 – Thrift Drain Cleaner is a drain cleaning product designed to dissolve blockages located inside drain pipes.

3 – This chemical product works best drain lines that measures from 1” to 4”, but it will work more effectively in smaller pipes of a plumbing system.

4 – The product is made of dry, odorless crystals and contains sodium hydroxide. If you decide to use this particular chemical, you must keep your face away from fumes and prevent the product from having contact with skin, eyes, mucous membrane, clothing, aluminum, floors or paint, etc.

What Is Thrift’s Promise?

Thrift promises that it can work with: small drains, grease traps, septic systems and root control. Is it really true that it can do all that? It all depends on a variety of factors, such as: following the manufacture guidelines and severity of the blockage.

Thrift cleaner also promised that if used as recommended, the product will remove the blockage within 60 seconds. If this product really works that fast, then, I would say that it is probably worth a try, however, don’t invest a lot of money in something that you don’t know for sure if it will work or not.




Using Thrift Drain Cleaner:

Using Thrift Drain Cleaner in small drains: If the fixtures are still draining but it getting slower you can use the chemical to prevent the drains from getting completely blockaded.

The first thing you need to do is: Open the hot water in the fixture and let it run to warm the pipe and drain, add one cup of thrift drain cleaner in the drain.

Let the hot water running until the chemical is completely dissolved.

Then, use 2 cups of hot water to a cup of the chemical and let it stand for about 60 seconds, then run hot water again. To properly maintain and prevent the drain continue to use about ½ to 1 cup of the chemical once a month.

However, if the drain is completely clogged you will need to cable the drain to get it unplugged and do the maintenance.

Treatment Grease Traps: According to the manufacture, if you use 2 lbs. of the chemical for each 100 gallon tank capacity, it will reduce the number of times that you will have to pump the tank, therefore, it will save you a lot of money.

For maximum result of the thrift drain cleaner, the product must be applied through any drain that leads to the grease trap drain, then, run hot water to dissolve the chemical and let it stay in the tank for as long as possible, this will allow the product to work more effectively.

Septic Tanks: For better performance, apply 6 lbs. of thrift drain cleaner for every 500 gallons tank capacity and, then, continue to use another 6 lbs. once a year to prevent buildups of grease and solid waste.

Sewer: If you are treating a 4” sewer pipe that is draining slow use 6 lbs. of the chemical with hot water. If the sewer line is longer than 60 feet, you might have to perform another application of equal quantity. Then continue to use the product once a year for maintenance.

NOTE: Do not use the product in disposal, toilet bowl or urinals. Do not mix it with any other chemical or drain cleaners.

First Aid Instruction:

External: Flood with water then wash with vinegar.

Internal: Drink large amount of water with citrus juice, if available. Call the Doctor as soon as possible.

Eyes: Flush with water for about 15 minutes. Get medical attention right away.

P.s.: Always use rubber gloves and protect your eyes with eye goggles and, the any chemical out the reach of children.
