Whole House Water Purifier

Aquasana is the first whole house water purifier to be written about in this section of the website. It is the first of a series of water filtration systems that I plan to write about and, the goal is provide you with clear facts about the best systems available in the market today.

Aquasana Rhine EQ-300 is considered one of the company’s top of the line whole house water filters and, some of the criteria are as follow:

Filtration Capacity:

According to the company’s specifications, this particular water purifier model is capable of filtering around 300,000 gallons of water before being needed to be replaced.

Aquasana filter is certified to last 3 years, which means, besides the replacement that will be needed in three years, you also have a monthly maintenance cost.

Removal of Hard Mineral:

The company claims that Rhino EQ-300 wate purifier will remove certain hard minerals from the water; they state that it will remove particulate that is greater than 5 microns.

Certifications:

The Rhino EQ-300 water purifier is certified by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) and by the Underwriters Laboratories (UL).

Maintenance:

Acquasana water purifier does not require electric and does not required back flushing to clean the system.

In this matter, the Rhino EQ-300 will save you from weekly wasting water because it doesn’t require back flushing.

Price of the Equipment:

The retail price for an Aquasana Rhino EQ-300 is around $1,000.00, however, it does has an annual maintenance cost of around $215.00 and, a replacement unit will cost almost the price of a new one, around $650.00.

Even though it is one of the cheapest water filtration systems available in the market, the Acquasana water purifier only last three years.

I don’t know what you think about that, but to me, if you have to replace the water purifier every 3 years, it can easily become expensive, especially if that are other equipments available in the market that can last 2 or 3 times longer than that, but you do your homework on it and, you make your own decision.

Replacing the Old Unit:

When comes the time to replace the old unit, which is 3 years later, the manufacturer states that you won’t need a professional to perform the replacement, however, I wouldn’t not disregard a professional opinion.

I would have a professional plumber to do it, just in case if something goes wrong, the expert will know what to do next.

Cost of Installation:

The price above is only for the equipment, it does not include the cost of installation that will be needed to be done by a professional and certified plumber.

So, depending on the number of hours required to complete the installation, you could be easily looking to invest an additional $750.00 to $1500.00 for labor only, no including additional parts that will likely be needed to re-do the existing plumbing at your house.

When buy the filter, the package comes with the main filter, pre-filter, installation kit, shut off valve and required hardware.

When comes to the installation, most manufactures fail to inform their customers that, when a plumber goes to your house, he must find the proper place for the water purifier and, usually, the chosen location is not ready for a new plumbing fixture, so, the plumber will have to make adjustments to make to install the new equipment.

Usually, when that happens, the plumber will also have to use additional parts to adapt the plumbing system for the equipment, this means that, it is most likely the time frame will at least double than was speculated in the beginning.

Also, most water purifier system requires to be programmed and cycled before being ready for use, which could take anywhere between 30 minutes to one hour, so, realistically speaking, a typical installation of any filter, might easily take half of a day, therefore, justifying the price that I already mentioned above.

Warranty:

The manufacturer states in his website that, if you for any reason are not happy with your new equipment, you have up to 90 days of the delivery date to return the equipment and have 100% money back guarantee.
